Palermo have had a terrible season filled with managerial hirings and sackings and rehirings and resackings, along with the poor performances that you might expect to go with all of that. So having a steadily slipped down the Serie A table since finishing fifth in 2009/10, Palermo now find themselves in the relegation zone with just a handful of matches left to play.
On Sunday, they visited rivals Catania in the Derby di Sicilia and the home fans welcomed Palermo by waving a sea of "B" signs — as in Serie B, where Palermo are likely headed. The Rosanero did strike back in the form of a Josip Ilicic equalizer in the fifth minute of injury time to snatch a 1-1 draw and a much needed point. Still, all of those B's had to sting.
