    My full (stars-n-scrubs) lineup:

SP: Jacob deGrom ($56) - Most expensive player on Thursday's board, and for good reason. deGrom has allowed just two earned runs in 17.2 IP this season, and he faces a San Diego offense that has the second-lowest OPS (.631) against right-handed pitching this season, ahead of only the Atlanta Braves.

SP: J.A. Happ ($40) - Happ is tied for the MLB lead in Quality Starts, producing one in each of his five outings this season. In fact, you have to go back to August 4 of '15 (16 regular-season starts ago) to find the last time he's allowed more than three earned runs. He's 11-4 since that outing.

    My full lineup:

SP: Jake Arrieta ($59) - On a run of 16 consecutive winning decisions, if I see Arrieta on my DFS list, I'm not asking questions, I'm just reaching for my wallet.

SP: Andrew Cashner ($35) - Owns a career 2.71 ERA mark at home in Petco, and facing Rockies starter Eddie Butler, who owns a career 5.99 ERA and .323 BAA in 97.2 IP

C: Steve Clevenger ($7) - Cost-saving move as he's likely to be behind the plate for M's - Chris Iannetta has caught past four games and has been owned by Oakland starter Sonny Gray in his career (.067 BA) - Clevenger is 1-for-3 vs. Gray, with a HR.

  • Sudden Impact: Mocking the rookie class

Brandon Funston at Roto Arcade 2 days ago

With the '16 NFL Draft concluded, the Yahoo fantasy crew decided to gauge how the new rookie crop might be able to positively impact fantasy football this season.

Yahoos Scott Pianowski, Liz Loza, Dalton Del Don, Andy Behrens, Brad Evans and myself convened for a quick five-round, rookie-only mock draft, with the only requirement being to draft the players based on expected fantasy production for the upcoming season.

[Yahoo Fantasy Football is open for the 2016 season. Sign up now]

    Here's how it played out:

(Note: Comments are provided by the Yahoo who picked the player)

    ROUND 1

    1. Ezekiel Elliott, Dal, RB - No brainer top rookie choice. He checks all the featured back boxes, and he'll get the luxury of handling that role behind, arguably, the NFL's top offensive line. (Brandon Funston)

    2. Josh Doctson, Was, WR -  This is a vote in favor of Jay Gruden, pass designer.   (Scott Pianowski)

    ROUND 2

    ROUND 3

    ROUND 4

    ROUND 5

  • NFL Draft High Fives: Elliott a shooting star

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports 3 days ago

The '16 NFL Draft concluded this past weekend. Now that we know where the top rookies have landed, Brandon Funston, Scott Pianowski and Dalton Del Don speculate on how all these new additions have altered the fantasy football landscape. Let's get to it ...

[Yahoo Fantasy Football is open for the 2016 season. Sign up now!]

    3.   Laquan Treadwell, Min - He seems like the wide receiver who's readiest to contribute right away

    4. Will Fuller, Hou - Will take the top off the defense and have opposing coverages focusing on DeAndre Hopkins

    3. Kenneth Dixon, Bal - He's an immediate threat to take over the starting role in Baltimore as a rookie

    3. Corey Coleman, Cle - Was the first wide receiver off the board but joins a Browns team that has plenty of question marks

    3. Antonio Gates, SD - He might be done now

  • High Fives: Gausman, bird of interest on the wire

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports 6 days ago

The Yahoo Fantasy Baseball '16 season has one month in the books. With that in mind, Brandon Funston, Dalton Del Don and Andy Behrens take a look at the April movers and shakers on the waiver wire that should pique the interest of fantasy owners. Let's get to it ...

3.Khris Davis, Oak  -  His power is well known, and the bat seems to be coming alive. Sure bet for 20-plus homers.

4.Joe Mauer, Min -  No power to speak of, but he's raking, delivering a vintage Mauer slash.

    3. Kevin Gausman, Bal -  Scary stuff in his 2016 debut, routinely working in the upper-90s. You want him.

    3.  David Freese, Pit -  Continues to bat third for Pittsburgh (not that he should), in position to drive in plenty of runs.

    3.  Nathan Karns, Sea -   Not a guy you use in every start, but the upcoming matchup at Oakland has some appeal.

    3. Charlie Blackmon, Col  -  Returning soon from the DL, and wasn't hitting much before the injury.

  • Daily Dime: Arrieta and a bunch of Orioles and White Sox

    My full lineup:

SP: Jake Arrieta ($57) - He's not cheap, but with 15 consecutive winning decisions and 24 consecutive quality starts, there's the highest of likelihoods that you'll get what you pay for.

SP: Tanner Roak ($39) - Coming off a career-best 15 K effort and hosting a Phillies team that has scored the fewest runs in MLB to this point.

C: Dioner Navarro ($7) - For $7, you can do alot worse than a backstop riding a five-game hitting streak that includes two home runs, a triple and a double.

OF: Mark Trumbo ($9) - He's currently a top 15 player in the Yahoo game, he's facing John Danks ... what am I missing?

  • High Fives: Colome answers the call

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports 13 days ago

The Yahoo Fantasy Baseball '16 season is underway. With that in mind, Brandon Funston, Scott Pianowski and Dalton Del Don take a look at the the early movers and shakers on the waiver wire that should pique the interest of fantasy owners. Let's get to it ...

    3. Devin Mesoraco, Cin - He's one season removed from a 25-homer, 80-RBI campaign, and catcher remains thin

    4. Jarrod Dyson, KC - He's back off the DL, and I'd bet he's better than Billy Hamilton from here on out

    3. Rich Hill, Oak - He's now up to 65 strikeouts over his past 48 innings over the last two seasons

    3. Cameron Maybin, Det - He combined for 33 steals/homers in just 141 games last season and should be back soon

    3. Tyler Glasnow, Pit - Another legit prospect worth stashing in deeper leagues

    3. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Det - He's been a top-40 player but owns a career .241/.312/.424 line. He's fanned 14 times over 35 ABs

  • Daily Dime: Arrieta, Cueto and budget-priced batters

Brandon Funston at Roto Arcade 14 days ago

As always when playing Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball, be sure to check the final lineups and the weather. NOTE: I'm focusing on just the games that begin at 1:10 pm ET or later.

[ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ]

    My full lineup:

SP: Jake Arrieta ($58) - Pitching pays the bills here, so it's hard to pass on a player that has won 14 consecutive decisions and has run off 23 consecutive quality starts.

SP: Johnny Cueto ($51) - Cueto is 3-0 this season and 6-1 with a 2.54 ERA in eight career starts vs. Arizona. And he'll be opposed by Diamondbacks starter Shelby Miller, who has been throwing batting practice this season (8.53 ERA, 5 HRs allowed in 12.2 IP).

  • High Fives: Mauer, Madson making waves on the wire

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports 20 days ago

The Yahoo Fantasy Baseball '16 season is underway. With that in mind, Brandon Funston, Scott Pianowski and Andy Behrens take a look at the the early movers and shakers on the waiver wire that should pique the interest of fantasy owners. Let's get to it ...

    3. Domingo Santana, Mil -  Doubt he'll hit for average, but he's a clear 20-homer candidate.

4.Joe Mauer, Min -  No power to speak of, but he's otherwise raking like vintage Mauer, challenging .400.

    3. Ryan Madson, Oak -  Madson has already picked up two saves, working in a committee-ish arrangement with Doolittle.

    3.  Leonys Martin, Sea -  Oddly low ownership percentage for a guy with proven 30-steal speed.

    3.  Nate Jones, CHW -  His stuff is evil. If you're in a league with an IP limit, you want high-K middle relievers like Nate.

    3.  Freddie Freeman, Atl -  Eventually he'll start hitting, but will there be anyone on base to drive in?

  • Baseball Big Board: Met gains

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports 20 days ago

The Big Board takes into consideration past returns, current performance and expected future gains in determining who should be included among the top 50 fantasy baseball players. Essentially, the Big Board is a cheat sheet designed for a fantasy owner who is planning to participate in a draft today. Yahoo! Sports Fantasy baseball default scoring settings (5x5) are used as the baseline for the Big Board.
