  • Exit Interview, WR: Rookie class provides major talent infusion

Brandon Funston at Roto Arcade 1 day ago

The '14 fantasy receiver class will forever be linked to one of the greatest infusions of rookie talent that the NFL has ever seen at the WR position. Instant stars like Odell Beckham Jr., Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin, to name just a few, helped propel many fantasy owners into their league's postseason. So as we put a bow on top of the season that was, and start formulating early ideas about the '15 camapign, it only makes sense to start with the young ones:

  • Week 16 Starts/Sits: Sparkling with Andre

I wish I could say I was among those still working towards a fantasy title this week, but, alas, I was knocked out in a couple leagues in the aftermath of a bloody Sunday in Week 15 in which many big names came up short (Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Josh Gordon, I'm looking at you). That said, I still have some scratch on the line in some consolation contests, which means I'm still working hard to uncover this week's likely booms and busts. So, for the final time this season I offer you the players that jump out to me for looking better or worse than usual this week. Best of luck in your championship matchups, and happy holidays!

Group-think can be an especially scary thing when it comes to fantasy football rankings. After all, the unpredictable nature of the NFL game is part of what makes fantasy football so popular, and why some people like to say that the NFL acronym stands for "No F****** Logic." But when one of our Yahoo fantasy football analysts veers particularly far away from the rankings consensus, our curious nature begs for an explanation . So, with that in mind, I've identified two players from our Week 16 rankingsthat our Yahoo analysts love/hate significantly more than the rest of us, and have asked them to explain their reasoning. I'll kick things off with a couple of my outliers: :

  • Watch out for a pair of fantasy starters who could cost you a championship

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 8 days ago

If you are in the hunt for fantasy championship title hardware in Week 16, watch out for a couple big-name players that could trip you up. At running back, Philly's LeSean McCoy has already been trying to sabotage your title aspirations, as he ranks No. 35 among running backs in total fantasy points over the past two weeks. On Sunday night in Week 15, Philly head coach Chip Kelly awarded goal lines carries to Chris Polk and Darren Sproles, and the two backs combined for three rushing touchdowns. As for Shady, he was left out in the cold. Touchdowns have been elusive for him all season (just four total on the year), and he's unlikely to splash pay dirt this week against a Washington defense that ranks as the third-toughest in fantasy against the RB position. Unfortunately, McCoy and his owners know that all too well as McCoy could muster just 22 rushing yards on 20 carries against his divisional foe in Week 3. At quarterback, beware of Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh's QB is coming off a 360-yard effort (but no TD passes) in Week 15 at Atlanta, and he's averaging 365 passing yards over his past seven contests. But the problem is that he's going up against a KC...

Most Yahoo fantasy leagues are down to the final four teams (semifinals) this week, and many of the owners who remain have benefited from a healthy amount of good luck to make it this far. That said, common sense still rules the day when it comes to setting your lineup and, with that in mind, here are the players that logic suggests are looking better or worse than usual this week.

For most owners (and congratulations if you are one of them), the fantasy playoffs have officially arrived. And that means it's time to make some money. With that in mind, here are some players that I think will make it rain (look better than usual) as well as some players that I think will cause only heartache and pain (look worse than usual) this week :

  • Here's the must-start defense to stream in Week 14!

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 22 days ago

If streaming defenses is a strategy that has helped lead you to the fantasy playoffs, then put the Minnesota Vikings on your short list of defenses to target for deployment in Week 14. The Vikings have been the No. 4 defense/special teams unit in fantasy since Week 7, managing 21 QB sacks, forcing 10 turnovers and scoring three touchdowns in that six-game span.

This week, they'll have the pleasure of hosting a New York Jets offense that has been exceptionally generous to opposing defenses. Between Geno Smith and Michael Vick, Jets quarterbacks have been sacked 27 times and have thrown six interceptions in the past seven games. The Jets offense also ranks 30th in the NFL with an average of 15.8 points scored per game. So, yes, the Vikings defense is sitting pretty this week.
