It would take a lot for the New Orleans Pelicans to trade big man Anthony Davis. How much? Well, even one of the biggest stars on the planet wouldn’t get it done.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry decided to add a new wrinkle to all future NBA trade talks Monday, saying the team wouldn’t trade Davis for anyone, “not even Beyoncé.”

Gentry’s trade proposal is obviously nonsense. There’s no way the Pelicans could take on Beyoncé’s salary. It would put them way over the cap.

With that statement, Gentry made his point clear: The Pelicans have no intention of dealing Davis no matter what other players are involved. That’s not a major surprise. The 25-year-old Davis is under contract for three more seasons, and has averaged 23.4 points 10.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks over his career. His value should be extremely high.

This, of course, opens the door for celebrities to be thrown into all possible deals. The next time a promising player is mentioned in trade talks, we expect a coach to say they wouldn’t trade him for five Justin Biebers.
